Washington is the second largest wine producing state in the US. They make a wide variety of wines in Washington; though initially known primarily for their Merlot, you can find other high quality reds such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, as well.

Washington white wines aren't to be written off, either. There is excellent Chardonnay and a surprising amount of Riesling made in Washington, too.
