Australia makes several spectacular wines, such as Penfold's Grange and the wines from Clarendon Hills. Unfortunately, in many people's minds, these and other fine wines are unknown and out of reach, and they know Australia for producing oceans of inexpensive Shiraz and Chardonnay that are almost uniformly simple and sweet.
That doesn't mean there aren't great values out there, because there are! We are constantly looking for the gems. We look for wines from companies large and small that over-deliver; that are well made and give better quality than you expect for the price.
