Austrian Wine

Winemaking in Austria reflects a 1,000-yearold tradition, an ideal area for viticulture in the eastern half of the country and a national passion for wine. Three large regions are responsible for the vast majority of exported wines: NIEDERÖSTERREICH, west of Vienna, makes the country’s most prestigious white wines. Powerful, ageworthy Grüner Veltliners and racy Rieslings are the specialties.
