California Wines - Sonoma County

• Sonoma Valley - hot, dry, Cabernet & Zinfandel country
• Dry Creek Valley - similar
• Alexander Valley - ditto, except that their Cabernets generally have a tell-tale touch of mint or eucalyptus
• Russian River Valley - an east/west valley open to the ocean; cool, foggy, true Pinot Noir country, along with some good Chardonnay
• Carneros - straddles the south edge Napa and Sonoma Counties right off San Pablo Bay. Cool and foggy, perfect for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
  
• Sonoma Coast - huge AVA, many different growing areas, but most known for cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir
