Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

750ML
Sku: 005742

There was a very dry period during the winter months (463 mm of rain compared to 726 mm the previous year), but carefully planned, controlled irrigation ensured a normal growth cycle.
Low temperatures in the spring during flowering resulted in some flower abortion, and thus slightly less generous bunches of grapes. Production was reduced by 15% compared to the annual average (8.5 tons/ha vs. 10 tons/ha) but this resulted in greater concentration and remarkably well-balanced grapes.

Bright ruby red colour. Remarkably expressive, fruity nose: aromas of blueberries, cherries, blackcurrants and raspberries blending perfectly with notes of pink pepper, paprika, curry and saffron.
Velvety, full-bodied and seductive in the mouth with mild acidity and gentle tannins giving very pleasant mouthfeel.

Review
Cabernet Sauvignon is the classic production of Los Vascos, and is the grape that made the estate famous. The vintages all share a mature and fruity quality, fresh aromas, and a supple and fleshy structure. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon It is an attractive ruby in color with a very red fruit nose and some very chocolate and bay leaf touches. This wine is pleasant, excellent body, juicy and ripe. Highly concentrated with strawberry & cherries fruit notes and marked spices. Persistent and outstandingly balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. Wines like this helped Conchagua earn its Wine Region of the Year Award... for not much cash you get a ripe, smoky Cabernet with black plum and cassis aromas...

The 2012Cabernet Sauvignon is a straightforward, clean and fruity Cabernet with aromas of ripe fruit, black plums and cherries and a medium-bodied palate with good balance and acidity. Itís not really exciting, but highly drinkable. Drink now.

James Suckling, 90 Points
- "This is bright and fruity with fine tannins and a juicy mouthfeel. Sweet plum and berry character plus hints of cream. A little riper than the 2011. This is cabernet and beautifully drinkable. Uncork it.

Wine maker notes
Beautiful ruby red color. The nose opens with intense notes of fresh red fruit fresh, such as cherries and strawberries, lightly underscored with aromas of thyme, bay and mint. Superb volume on the palate, with soft yet well-defined tannins. A wine with a fine balance of fruit.
