Cannonau Based Wines (wines made primarily from the Cannonau wine grape)

Most widely planted black grape in Sardinia, also known as Grenache in France and Garnacha in Spain, which is low to moderatein acidity with medium to high alcohol and soft tannins. Cannonau di Sardegna, the island's premier appellation, is a dry red wine of moderate ruby color, often with a rusty rim, best consumed within two to four years of vintage. The best winemakers coax out delicate strawberry and raspberry flavors highlighted by black pepper notes.
