Montepulciano Based Wines (wines made primarily from the Montepulciano wine grape)

Montepulciano, the grape, should not be confused with Montepulciano, the town. The great wine from the town of Montepulciano, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, is actually made with Sangiovese.

The wine most associated with the Montepulciano grape is Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. It is also the primary grape in Rosso Conero and is used in Rosso Piceno and other blends.
