Deep ruby color with a hint of ochre. Rich complex Mediterranean aromas with exuberant notes of spices and blackberries. Velvety tannins are noted on the palate with elegant flavors of liquorice and small dark forest fruits (blueberries and blackcurrants).

Review

This juicy red offers black cherry, chocolate and lightherbal flavors, with light tannins and crisp acidity. A slight bitterness gives it a refreshing finish.

2008: 86 Points - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Gran Sangre de Toro has a tad more Syrah in the blend than in previous years. Aged in French oak for 12 months, it offers raspberry, small dark cherries and a touch of graphite on the nose. The palate is a little pinched on the entry, though it unfurls towards the fresh, dry finish with notes of blackberry, allspice, rosemary and sage. Drink now-2015. "

2008: 85 Points - Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast: " Pointy and sharp at first, with earthy, dry aromas. Edgy feeling, with heat and scour to go with peppery, herbal berry flavors. Finishes mossy and warm, with a minty burn. Improves with airing."

Technical notes

Made using 65% Garnacha Tinta and 35% Cariñena and aged for 6 months in French and American oak casks.
