Review

This Malbec has been one of my favorites for a long time. Lots of Fruit and flavor, full-bodied with enticing aromas of dark fruits and hints of coffee. Great freshness that carries through to a silky finish.

2011: 88 Points - Steve Tanzer, International Wine Cellars: "Deep saturated red. Black plum, licorice and a note of chocolatey torrefaction on the nose. Sweet, suave and nicely deep, with a saline quality and good smoky complexity to its dark fruit and licorice flavors. Finishes broad, with sweet tannins. Not a particularly fruity style, but nuanced for a wine in this price range."

Wine maker notes

The 2010 is ruby red in color, with hues of blue and violet. Aromas of ripe red and black fruits, amalgamated with chocolate, coconut and vanilla. A nicely balanced palate, supported by firm tannins on the long, fine finish.

VINTAGE The winter was relatively mild, with not much intensely cold weather. The spring was very dry with the usual temperature, and no rain. The summer was very hot and dry, and many plants needed extra water for irrigation. Full maturity was achieved due to careful irrigation management, which balanced the strength of the harvest, resulting in a perfect evolution of the phenols, and clusters in excellent health.
