Veramonte Primus 2010

Veramonte Primus 2010

750ML
Sku: 009952

A blend of Carmenère (The Lost Bordeaux Grape), Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Primus is a combination of power and finesse from Veramonte's Casablanca Valley Estate. Definitely a "terroir" wine, Primus is a limited production wine that showcases the rare Carmenère variety, a grape once prevalent in Bordeaux in the 1800's when Chile first began importing vines from France. Distinct and exotic, Carmenère is making a strong comeback as a blending component for premium wines.

Rating
2008: 90 Points - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator: "A full-bodied, ripe red, mixing dark cherry, cassis and raspberry ganache notes with layers of spice, coffee bean and licorice that linger on the savory finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Carmenère and Merlot. Drink now."

Food pairing
Primus pairs beautifully with duck, beef tenderloin, wild game (venison, elk, squab, rabbit), bitter greens (arugula, endive, radicchio), bell peppers, olives, black pepper and legumes.
