Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse 2014

Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse 2014

750ML
Sku: 010303

One of the true benchmark wines of the Maconnais region, the beauty of the Jadot Pouilly-Fuisse is in its precise presentation. Brilliant in the glass with an almost emerald color, it is fermented partially in steel and partially in oak, delivering a marvelous complexity of minerals, vanilla, and citrus wonderfully suited for fish or cream-sauced chicken menus. This wine is a ranking member of the old guard but it always rises to the occasion, and of course the name Louis Jadot always evokes a special comfort level.

Tasting notes
Ripe, supple and of medium body, this classic expression of Pouilly-Fuissé shows vibrant Chardonnay fruit flavors with notes of melon and minerals, gently touched with oak, ending in a fresh, silky finish.

With a toasty character, this is a classic of its kind, with ripe fruit and an attractive slice of lemon. A mineral edge to this spicy wine gives a fresh texture at the end. It should age a few months, so drink from 2016.

Ripe and fleshy, this exhibits peach, apple and floral aromas and flavors. There’s a citrus element courtesy of lemony acidity, and the lingering finish evokes mineral. Drink now through 2022. 55,000 cases imported. -BS

Located in the southern part of Burgundy, at the North limit of Beaujolais area, Pouilly Fuissé is the top of the Mâconnais wines, in the heart of the great whites appellations (Fuissé, Pouilly Loché, Pouilly Vinzelles and Saint Véran).

Pouilly Fuissé is produced exclusively with Chardonnay grapes. The production is small (700 hectares planted) and cover steep slopes of the village of Fuisé, Solutré, Pouilly, Vergisson and Chaintré, on which the soils are a mixture of clay and chalk from the Jurassic era.

One part of the wine is fermented in vats and the other in oak barrels in order to have a fresh and fruity wine with a good structure.
