Tasting notes
The standard-of-type and leader both in Spain and abroad. Manzanilla is the rarest of all authentic sherries, being uniquely site-specific in origin. Matured beneath a constant veil of yeast (called flor) as only occurs on the beachfront in Sanlucar, giving manzanilla a dry, haunting delicacy analogous to fine Champagne.

Review
La Gitana from the Hidalgo bodega is a classic Manzanilla. There are greater expressions, but if you want a benchmark that hits all the hallmarks of a true Manzanilla, look no further. – Melissa S. | Sherry Buyer

Rating
NV: 90 Points - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator: "Dry and refreshing, with apple, straw and nutty flavors all underscored by a salty tanginess. Lightweight and balanced, this is very appealing. Break out the almonds and olives. Drink now."

Pour yourself a copita of this beauty and sip it while munching some olives, peanuts or pistachios. Shazzam! You’re transported to a whitewashed village in Andalusia. Aromas of mushroom and yeast are just as they should be. And deep within are subtle flavors of marzipan and citrus…"

NV: 88 Points - Jay Miller, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Among the single solera sherries, the pale-colored dry, salty La Gitana Manzanilla is a terrific aperitif. "
