The 2010 Pinotage does not quite have the complexity and personality of the previous vintage despite rigorous coaxing. Perhaps this has closed down in recent months? The palate is medium-bodied with a supple, fleshy, caressing opening. The oak needs another couple of years to fully integrate, and the finish is glitzy but without the tension of the 2009. This is still a very commendable Pinotage however.
The 2010 Pinotage, raised in 70% new oak for 16 months, missing a little lift and clarity on the nose compared to its peers. The palate is much better with crisp tannins and pert, earthy red berry fruits. The palate is so attractive that you wish that the aromatics would deliver more personality. Perhaps a little bottle age may benefit this wine? Drink 2014-2019. ”
