Quivira’s Anderson Ranch Zinfandel is grown on Ray and Nadine Anderson’s Dry Creek
Valley property, where once grew lots and lots of kiwis. A few years ago, Quivira’s
proprietor, Henry Wendt (in his late 60’s) and Ray Anderson (in his 70’s) signed a 30-year
lease on the property (“an act of supreme optimism,” says Henry), and Quivira began
planting the site to heritage clone Zinfandel. Head-trained and tightly spaced, this
sixteen-acre vineyard on Lytton Springs Road is already producing great fruit for such
young vines, and can only get better with time.
