Melini, an impressive winery second to none in the art of making the area's most famous wine: Chianti Classico. Melini was founded in 1705 and established itself as an 'international' winery in 1860 when Laborel Melini collaborated in developing the straw-covered flask (fiasco). This made it possible for the wine to travel and launched Melini in international markets.
The wine shows alluring leather, red berry and herbal aromas, and elegantly balanced wild cherry fruit on the palate with spicy red currant notes. The wine has a plush mouthfeel that is helped by beautifully articulated acidity, soft tannins and long finish. The 2003 vintage is notable for its dense, complex fruit that still retains the wine’s cool climate character without being cooked or overripe.
