Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2010

Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2010

750ML
Sku: 020350

The Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova came about thanks to the desire to produce a Brunello of great character. We began by searching for land which we believe to be in the best position. The microclimate of the terrain includes the botanical species lentiscus, ilatro, thyme, fillera, marruca, and a type of juniper which demonstrate the exceptional quality of the vineyards of Pietrodonice and Le Cetine. This passionate search together with highly scientific methods in determining the clones, the grafting, the type of cultivation, the density per hectare of the vines and every other minor detail have taken place to obtain excellent Sangiovese grapes. It is aged in small oak casks for 24 to 30 months according to the vintage and then for at least a year in the bottle. The first vintage produced was in 1993. Born of vineyards with unique characteristics that produce Sangiovese grapes and give a wine of great distinction and unique structure, potency and fineness. Captivating and complex in its fragrances, profound in its width yet able to express in delightful flavours, in the style of our estate. It lends itself to a lengthy evolution through the years but also drunk young it will give great satisfaction. Ever since its first harvest in 1993 it has had constant amazing recognition from the world press.

Rating
"The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is quite a bit darker and richer than the straight Brunello. Cherries, plums, spices and French oak meld together beautifully in this silky, textured red. In 2005 the Tenuta Nuova boasts fabulous overall balance in a fairly restrained style for this bottling. Kirsch, roses and spices linger on the dark, enveloping finish. This is a terrific effort from Casanova di Neri. The Tenuta Nuova is made from vineyards in Le Cetine and Pietradonice, both located in the southern part of Montalcino. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2022. "
93 Points, The Wine Advocate

"Very fresh for a 2005 with dense fruit and silky tannins. Not the same depth of fruit of the 2004 or the 2006 for that matter, but it is clearly one of the best 2005’s in my opinion. I suggest another couple of years of cellar age. Great finesse, richness, and freshness for the vintage. "
93 Points James Suckling

"Blueberry and vanilla cream, with zabaglione undertones. Full body, with velvety, chewy tannins and a long, sweet-fruit aftertaste. Solid and rich for the vintage. Best after 2011."
92 Points, Wine Spectator

"Beyond the plump notes of cherry and blackberry there’s an added touch of clove, cardamom and rosemary sprig that sets this wine apart. The mouthfeel is rich and textured and because the tannins still need to soften, we recommend you put this bottle down in your cellar for a few more years."
92 Points, Wine Enthusiast

"Good full ruby-red. Aromatic nose combines red raspberry, superripe red cherry and dried herbs (rosemary, sage, bay leaf). Then sweet, suave and wonderfully fine-grained, with fleshy red cherry and red plum flavors given shape by harmonious acidity. Finishes with excellent length, but becomes a touch austere on the back. "
91 Points, International Wine Cellar
