Original bodega founded in 1972. A living icon of modern Spanish wine, Alejandro Fernández was one of the first in his country to return to biodynamic, low yield viticulture in order to produce concentrated oak-aged red wines capable of extended bottle aging. Currently under vine are 500 acres, almost exclusively Tempranillo, in a range of soil types including a locally-rare gravel deposit. Following development of new wine estates in the 1990's current vintages are of unprecedented quality. The 'Master of the Tempranillo', now at the peak of his career.

Tasting notes
Cherry red colour with violet edges. Clean and bright wine with medium-high robe. Abundant colored tear.
High aromatic intensity. Clean and appetising aromas of ripe red fruit over delicate toasted and expressive spiced hints and refreshing balsamic touches.
Elegant, tasty and fresh wine. Long and silky mid-palate, full of fruit mixed with roasted nuances. Excellent acidity and kind, tamed and juicy tannins. Very pleasant and long finish with a great persistence.

Pesquera Crianza is a classic aged red wine from the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It is a varietal wine made of 100% Tempranillo grapes. The grapes are selected and destemmed be means of a traditional wine-making. After some long macerations with the grape skins, the wine is left to stand for 18 months in American oak barrels. It is rounded out in the bottle for 6 more months. It is recommended decanting this wine one hour before enjoying it.

Vinous / Antonio Galloni, 91 Points
Brilliant ruby. Fresh cherry, dark berries and vanilla on the highly perfumed nose, with a hint of woodsmoke building in the glass. Sappy and nicely focused, offering zesty bitter cherry and blackberry flavors underscored by a mineral element. Becomes fleshier and sweeter on the clinging finish, which features supple tannins and a touch of smoked meat.

Wine maker notes
The Pesquera Tinto's cherry red color reveals its youth and fruitiness. Its aspect is clean and appears to be glyceric. On the nose, the wine's intense bouquet reveals the best dark fruit marked by impeccable wood aromas. Hints of fallen leaves and spices such as vanilla. On the palate, the smooth entry becomes lush with abundant ripe tannins and an excellent balance between its acidity and heat. The presence of the well-integrated oak complements the fruit and spice beautifully to display a wine of great balance. A refined, long-lasting and elegant finish.
Pairs perfectly with roasted meats, farm yard poultry, veal stews as well as semi-cured cow and/or goat cheese.

Food pairing
Its fruity richness and abundant tannins suggest that it is best drunk at around 17º C and accompanied by the best roasts, farmyard poultry, veal stews as well as semi-cured cow’s and goat’s cheese.
