Weninger Blaufrankisch Durrau 2003

Weninger Blaufrankisch Durrau 2003

Sku: 025198

Durrau is the oldest and definitely best site in Horitschon. An especially deep, heavily loamy soil that is rich in clay. Once the roots have pushed their way through it, they will always have enough water. It is ideally suited for the Blaufrankisch vines that have been planted here in the 1960s. In 1999 we vinified our Blaufrankisch grapes from the Durrau site as a single vineyard wine for the first time.

2003: 91 Points - Peter Moser, International Wine Cellars: "Medium garnet with violet highlights. Soil-driven aromas of wild cherry, minerals, spices and smoke, with subtle complementary oakiness. Tightly woven and stylish, with an impression of sweet fruit extract and harmonious acidity. The cherry and orange flavors are joined by chocolate on the long finish, which features abundant, satiny tannins. A solidly built blaufrankisch with excellent aging potential. Drink 2008 to 2015. "
