Tasting notes

Doesn't have the same funky nose that it used to. No longer a wine just for gamey food. Very cassis like fruit, lightly pepperry. Very straight forward. Not overtly "fruity" but still very primary. Some spice and some mineral showing up late.

2007 "The Domaine Marsanne (100% Syrah, no Marsanne grapes!) Crozes Hermitage is a delicious, interesting, cool climate, Rhone Syrah. Besides the black plum and black pepper typical for the region, there some clear notes of smoke, bacon, and black olive.

The people at Domaine Marsanne really cleaned up their act, and I mean that in the very literal sense. This used to be an incredibly funky, wet dog smelling, Rhone Syrah, but not any more."
