Demeter certified Biodynamic.
With scenic vineyards rolling across undulating slopes of an ancient volcano, Cooper Mountain got its start in 1978 when Dr. Robert Gross and his wife, Corrine, planted their first Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines. At first, the fruit was sold to other wineries until, in 1978 the first wines were made under the Cooper Mountain label. In 1990, Dr. Gross pursued an interest in alternative farming methods that corresponded with his interest in homeopathic medicines and decided to take his vineyards organic. His interests eventually lead him to Biodynamic agricultural methods. In 1995 his vineyards achieved organic certification by Oregon Tilth, and in 1999, Biodynamic certification by Demeter.
Biodynamic practices do not stop in the vineyard. Cooper Mountain wines are made with native yeast fermentations with very limited sulfur dioxide and absolutely no “corrections” or additions in the cellar.
The 2007 Pinot Noir 20th Anniversary has a bright, raspberry infused aroma with beautiful red fruit flavors lingering on the palate, enveloped with luscious, velvety tannins and notes of toasty oak on the long finish.
