Crios Malbec 2012

The wine has a beautiful reddish/purple color as most good Malbecs do. The aromas are a mix of freshly crushed black cherries and toasty/smoky oak—just enough to frame the exuberant fruit. On the palate, the flavors of cherries and spice are obvious, and the jammy fruit quality just keeps coming on strong, with hints of spice and sandalwood lurking in the background.

2011: 89 Points - Steve Tanzer, International Wine Cellars: "Good full medium ruby. Crushed blackberry, licorice and violet on the lively nose. Quite ripe and sweet in the mouth, showing impressive volume and breadth for the price range. Finishes with serious ripe tannins and noteworthy persistence. Susanna Balbo's son Jose Lovaglio, who took over the Crios label with this vintage, has gone to all French oak and some what warmer fermentations."
