All Barra of Mendocino wines are made from 100% estate grown, hand-picked certified organic grapes. The 2006 vintage Barra of Mendocino Pinot Noir is light to medium ruby in color with bright zesty aromas of freshly crushed cherries followed by red licorice, oak and spice. The flavors are accented by a smooth, rich texture that showcases the bright fruit and sweet oak flavors. Ageing in small French coopered barrels harmonizes the fruit and gives it a touch of vanilla and spice.
As you take a walk through the vineyard with Charlie Barra, you’ll find yourself surrounded by 50 year old, craggly, grapevines that resemble the sun-baked hands of the farmer that has nurtured them. These hearty, twisted vines, located on the bench lands at the headwaters of the Russian River in Redwood Valley, CA, are the source of the superior organic fruit that goes into each bottle of BARRA of Mendocino wines.
The vineyards and winemaking facility are certified organic by CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers).
