Shows some slight reduction on the nose initially, revealing black cherry, black currant and violet flavors, all focused and elegant. Finishes long and savory. Best from 2016 through 2025. 35 cases imported.-BS

The 2011 Vosne-Romanee Les Beaux Monts is a major step up from the previous Vosnes in the range. Here it is the wine’s brightness, energy and vibrancy that stand out most. A wine of exceptional elegance, the 2011 impresses for its finesse, nuance and crystalline purity. Roses, mint, red cherries and anise all literally jump out of the glass. In 2011, the Beaux Monts stands out for its energy and sheer class. I loved it.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaumonts 2011 has an intense bouquet of strawberry pastilles, raspberry and orange blossom that is not the most complex, but offers plenty of fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, ripe raspberry and strawberry fruit, smooth in the mouth, and quite plump on the finish that only wishes to please. Not a long-term proposition perhaps, but this Vosne-Romanee will have commercial appeal. Note that it does seem to harden in the glass and reveal a green note, hence my cautious score.
