From ancient terraced vineyards comprised of gravel on a bed of sandy clay in the area of Cairanne and Gigondas in the southern Rhône Valley. Color: Intense purple. Bouquet: Red fruit, leather and spice. Taste: Complex, with flavors of licorice and spice and silky tannins. A food-friendly wine which will perfectly match grilled lamb, pork and assorted cheeses.

Tasting notes
Perfumed and supple with ripe cherry and plum fruit. Pure and quite elegant with some peppery notes and a bit of grip. Medium bodied. A stylish Rhone red with lovely drinkability.

Rating

Intense black pepper mixed with blue and red berries offer classic aromas. Minerally and fresh on the palate with bright red fruits and lingering black pepper and cinnamon spice. A focused structure keeps the palate clean and dry
 Vinous 88 points (Feb 2015)
Brilliant ruby. Spicy cherry and dark berries on the perfumed nose. Supple and broad but lively as well, offering bitter cherry and raspberry flavors that pick up a peppery nuance with air. Closes spicy and taut, with lingering blackberry and bitter cherry qualities and gentle tannins.

Wine maker notes
The grapes are harvested manually, then de-stemmed, lightly crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks where the wine is refined for 10 months before bottling.

Technical notes
60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 10% Mouvedre

Food pairing
A food-friendly wine which will perfectly match grilled lamb, pork and assorted cheeses.

Review:
We purchased a couple of bottles on sale and were delighted with them. This is a typ;ical Cotes du Rhone wine with a touch of tannin and good flavor but without the rawness that you usually find at this price point.
