|2005: 89 Points - Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast: "Starts out rustic and leathery, with hints of smoke, leafiness and earth along with baked berry and spice. This four-grape wine has good density and mouthfeel that frames leather, earth and slightly baked berry fruit flavors. Finishes chocolaty and sweet, with just enough acidity to maintain balance."
2005: 88 Points - Thomas Matthews, Wine Spectator: "Graphite, licorice and espresso flavors are expressive, if a bit austere, in this lean, firm red. Notes of black cherry and mineral are fresh and focused. Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Merlot. Drink now through 2012. "
2005: 88 Points - Jay Miller, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Seleccion 12 is a blend of Monastrell, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot aged in new French and American oak for 12 months. Purple-colored, it gives up a reticent perfume of Asian spices, incense, blackberry, and blueberry. Medium to full-bodied, on the palate it is ripe, savory, and intense leading to a finish with no hard edges. Drink this excellent value over the next 3-4 years."
