Terredora Falanghina 2011

Terredora Falanghina 2011

Sku: 043838

Tasting notes
Pale yellow colour. Offers a rich and intense aroma of fruit with hints of apple, pineapple, quince and pear. It is fresh and clean in the mouth with excellent acidity, good structure and a floral finish.

Falanghina is an “archaeological” variety planted in the volcanic soils of Campania north of Naples. A lively variety showing captivating aromatics and vinified without oak, Terredora’s Lucio Mastroberardino crafts a highly aromatic style. Notes are redolent of resin, herbs and minerals. The palate shows a bright, zesty zing and a bit of sun-dried fruits. Overall, this wine delivers tremendous quality for its cost and comes from a talented winemaker whose family revived ancient white varieties.

Wine Advocate 88 points (Feb 2013)
The 2011 Falanghina wraps around the palate with succulent yellow stone fruits, white flowers and orange blossoms. In 2011 the Falanghina shows a little more depth, richness and pure texture than it often does. Clean mineral notes appear on the finish, adding energy and vibrancy. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2015. ”

Wine maker notes
Grapes are harvested in the second two weeks of October. The must is settled and then fermented at cool temperatures using selected yeasts. The wine is aged on its lees in stainless steel but sees no oak.

Food pairing
A wine for the whole meal equally at home with hors doeuvres, soups, fish dishes, cold dishes, buffalo mozzarella and fresh cheeses. Serve at 10°C
