Luisa Amorim, owner/wine-director at Quinta Nova -a vineyard estate that dates back to 1764- goes against the grain in making an un-oaked wine in Portugal's traditional and esteemed Duoro Valley. Her wine is a blend of native varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cao. It is steel tank fermented and unfiltered, showing a delicate balance of minerality with dark fruits, blackberry, and cassis. -Sadie F.
