Review
Sierra Cantabria Reserva Unica 2007 is made by famed winemaker Marcos Eguren. The wine is a blend of two exceptional varietals,97% Tempranillo and 3% Graciano. Aged for 24 months in French and American oak. The aromatics of this wine are exceptional. Subtle nuances of earth, leather and smoke combine with undertones of raspberry and plums. Superb length in the palate with a lively but focused acidity. The finish is elegant and seemless. An absolute jewel of Sierra Cantabria and Mr. Eguren.

Rating
2007: 92 Points - Josh Raynolds, Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellars: "(97% tempranillo and 3% graciano): Bright ruby. Expressive aromas of redcurrant, cherry, licorice, cinnamon and allspice. Supple and juicy in the mouth, with very good vivacity to its red fruit, cassis and floral pastille flavors. Penetrating acidity extends the long, spicy, floral-dominated finish. This is very nicely balanced and delicious right now. "

2007: 92 Points - Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast: " Full and smoky at first, however as it settles the bouquet delivers ripe strawberry and additional red, jammy aromas. The palate has a healthy, very nice feel and diligent flavors of red berry fruit touched up by proper oak. Finishes creamy, with vanilla and spice flavors. "

2007: 90 Points - Thomas Matthews, Wine Spectator: "This modern red shows depth and balance. Bright blackberry and currant flavors mingle with toasty vanilla and underlying mineral notes. Offers firm, well-integrated tannins and lively acidity. Drink now through 2015. "
