Pinot Grigio is Duline's largest production item which is not unusual for a farm in Friuli. What is unusual is that there are only 300 cases produced. The reason is that under DOC rules Duline could produce up to 130 hl per hectare, but the old vines and poor soils give them just 35hl/hct! This is not simple, crisp pinot grigio but a wine with breadth, round fruit, and should be consumed at a warmer, rather than colder, temperature.
|Wine maker notes
|Duline is a husband and wife team. In the late 90's Lorenzo inherited his grandfather's vineyards, largely in disrepair, but planted to extremely old vines. He dropped out of medical school to pursue a life in the vineyards.
He and his wife, Federica, have remained committed to the practice of bio-dynamics since they took over the winery. So much so that they built their home out of organic material and have acquired access to Ronco Pitotti, Friuli's oldest recognized organically farmed vineyard.
