The 2002 Herzog Cabernet/Syrah/Zinfandel blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, 31% Zinfandel from San Joaquin and 3% Syrah from San Louis Obispo, vinified separately, was aged in American oak for 13 months before the final blend was made. Hints of juniper berries, allspice and black pepper combine with an array of fruit flavors to create a robust flavored wine that finishes with spice. In 2010 this wine was rated one of Rogov's top 10 Kosher wines worldwide. Drink now-2012. Daniel Rogov, 93.
| Tasting notes |
| This unorthodox wine is a blend of three reserve vineyards; 66% Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Watts Old Vine Zinfandel, and 3% Edna Valley Syrah. The wines were produced separately, aged in American oak barrels for 13 months, and blended before bottling. The Cabernet contributes focused tannins and structured acidity, while the concentrated, old-vine Zinfandel adds classic jammy fruit and ripeness. A small amount of Syrah adds smoky notes on the nose and some spice in the finish. |
