Benanti is the first and only producer (so far) to create a sparkling wine (Méthode Champenoise) from Carricante, the noble white variety found on Mount Etna in Sicily. Carricante grapes make extraordinary white wines but no one has tried to turn them into sparkling wine until now.
Production started in 2004 and has since the best expertise in making it. Annually production is 4,500 bottles.
The grapes come from Etna, eastern side at 950 m asl and northern side at 1,200 m asl and vineyards are over 80 years old.
