Alonso del Yerro Ribera del Duero Maria 2006

Alonso del Yerro Ribera del Duero Maria 2006

Sku: 053529

The “Terroir”: A mixture of chalky clay which gives density and roundness to the María, and a plot of chalky gravel which will provide its elegance and floral part. The 2006 Vintage: Winter and summer rainfalls allowed a good development and balance of the vines. The heat at the end of August and the variety of temperatures on September favored a slow and continuous ripening, with a good aromatic development of the Tempranillo. Harvest: : Grapes are from our own vineyard. We harvested on October 14 th , after thoroughly tasting the grapes. Manual harvest in cases. Selections made on the vine and in the cellar. Vinification: 25 days of maceration in stainless steel tanks of 100Hl. Extraction with overpumping and pigeage .Malo-lactic fermentation in new French oak barrels. 15 months maturing in barrels with the lees . Tasting notes: Deep color with blue trim. Floral (violet), black fruit (black cherry, blackberry) in nose. In mouth we find species are mixed to the fruit. Its wood is elegant and harmonious (marron glacé, caramelized). Concentrated in mouth, dense and long, its silky tannins recall the mineral quality of the terroir from the origin and will enable an extended keep.

The 2006 Maria is a bit more expressive aromatically with notes of scorched earth, espresso, game, mineral, lavender, and blackberry. On the palate it is smooth-textured, balanced, and intense. It conceals enough tannin to evolve for another 3-5 years and should deliver prime drinking from 2013 to 2026.
