Review
Charles Heidsieck Blanc Des Millenaires 1995 96 points Wine Spectator Lovely and expressive, with the ethereal texture of fine silk, showing precise balance and integration and weaving together flavors of smoky toasted hazelnut, coffee liqueur, patisserie apple, candied ginger and a hint of white truffle. Fresh and vibrant, with a lasting finish. Drink now through 2027. (10/ 2012) 95 points Wine & Spirits We have now tasted this 1995 in three consecutive years, and it continues to show as one of the best wines of the vintage. It has the broadness typical of many '95s, but none of the heaviness. Instead, it's surprisingly fresh, brisk, bold. Scents of leather and wood spices lend a masculine complexity to the finish, contrasting the vibrant acidity. Fairly priced for what is soon to be a 14-year-old wine, this is well worth stocking away in the cellar. (12/ 2008) 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar Vivid gold. Heady aromas of candied citrus fruits, flowers, truffle, gingerbread and iodine, with an intensely smoky overtone. Deep, pungent and palate-staining, with the orchard and pit fruit flavors reaching every corner of the palate and showing impressive power without any excess weight. Even more extroverted than last year's release, finishing with excellent cling and lingering smokiness. (10/ 2011) 94 points Wine Enthusiast This 12-year old shows signs of maturity, but retains freshness and liveliness as well. With its yeasty edge, toasty flavors and wonderful white fruits all in balance, it is finely balanced. The acidity is kept in check by the richness of the mature fruit. A very complete Champagne. (12/ 2007) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Hiedsieck’s 1995 Blanc des Millenaires is gorgeous in its expression of honeyed apricots, roasted nuts, brioche and flowers. This mid-weight Champagne offers plenty of persistence with perfumed, sweet notes that linger on the finish... Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018. Charles Heidsieck is one of Champagne’s historic houses. Charles-Camille Heidseick was an early pioneer in developing export markets for his wines as far back as 150 years ago. Today, this large estate based in Reims makes wines in an easygoing, pretty style. (12/ 2008) Jancis Robinson Yeasty nose with great depth and integration. Very fresh but it plays the acidity card rather than the dryness card (unlike the Cristal 1995 served alongside). Tight and fine. Proof that this house. newly family owned, has some excellent stocks of mature wine. (6/ 2012)

The 1995 Brut Blanc des Millenaires shows just how compelling this often overlooked vintage can be. Layers of lemon, pastry, spices, crushed rocks and savory herbs literally jump from the glass. An exquisite, perfumed, beautifully delineated Champagne, the 1995 shows lovely flavor complexity and nuance from its extended time in bottle, yet it also retains plenty of freshness, verve and acidity. This is a great showing from Charles Heidsieck. The 1995 was made before the tenure of the houses current team, headed by CEO Cecile Bonnefond. It will be very interesting to see what develops at this historic property over the coming years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.
