Ross Andrew Meadow White 2011

Sku: 055619

This white is Pinot Blanc dominant with blends of Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer. It is a fresh and fun white that is really refreshing for summer. The nose is mostly pear, but there is a hint of minerality that also shows through on the finish and some really good acidity. The grapes are sourced both from Washington's Columbia Gorge AVA (84%) and Oregon's Willlamette Valley (16%). It is 100% stainless steel and aged on fine lees for 4 months.

Have you ever had a bottle of wine that you couldn’t wait to taste — and once you did, it went beyond your expectations? That’s how I felt when I was first sampled this white. For me, this wine says summer. Ross Andrew Meadow White is predominantly Pinot Blanc, blended with smaller amounts of Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer. Together, these aromatic grapes create a fun, fresh blend with a subtle nose of pears. The wine really opens up on the palate with flavors of stone fruit, such as white peaches, and hints of minerality. Refreshing acidity persists through the finish.

Other text
Ross Andrew founded his Columbia Gorge winery in 1999, and has since produced four vintages of this Meadow White. The grapes for this wine are primarily grown in Washington, with a few bundles from Oregon. 2011 was a very cool year in both places, and many winemakers were challenged to make quality wines. Fortunately, Alsatian grapes thrive in cool weather, allowing this blend to showcase their full potential.

Food pairing
With warm weather finally upon us, there’s nothing better than heading out to enjoy sun and blue skies. I recently took a bottle of Ross Andrew Meadow Alsatian White with me on a picnic lunch in Central Park, as this bottle is perfect for any outdoor gathering. I paired this zesty, refreshing Washington white blend with pasta topped with cherry tomatoes, basil, garlic, olive oil and Parmesan with a side of green salad. The wine, the food, and the weather all came together perfectly.
