Bodegas Jimenez Landi Sotorrondero 2010

Wine Review The attractive, medium dark ruby/purple-colored 2010 exhibits an excellent texture, abundant fruit and peppery garrigue, lavender and kirsch notes. Medium to full-bodied and ripe, it seems to grow in stature and complexity as it sits in the glass. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. -Robert Parker Wine Notes Vineyards: Organic vineyards in Méntrida with varying exposures. Age of Vines: 10-30 years. Harvest: Hand picked in small cases. Vinification: Whole clusters with the stem removed placed in stainless steel containers, cold pre-fermentation maceration (2-5 days), gentle extraction (pigeage à pied) , maceration between 15 and 20 days. Natural malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aging: 10 months in French oak barrels

Wine maker notes
Winemaker Jose Benavides Jimenez-Landi and Daniel Gomez Jimenez-Landi Jose Benavides Jimenez-Landi and Daniel Gomez Jimenez-Landi were raised among concrete tanks and old press machines. At the age of 27 they both decided to dedicate their lives exclusively to wine, and in 2004 they restored the old winery introducing new technologies and machinery with the single target of producing maximum possible quality, based in respect to environment and tradition. The small estate is located in Mentrida and is in an old typical Toledana house where the oldest part, the cave, dates to the 16th century and was used by their ancestors to elaborate wine in clay vats. With romantic 16th century gardens, the estate has always been linked to the family, and the family always linked to winemaking and viticulture.
