Fattoria Montalbano farms all of its grapes biodynamically and thrives for wines that are natural and alive and true to their terroir.
Made from 100% Sangiovese, the 2006 Castellina has ruby red hues with purplish highlights. The nose reveals a clean and distinct bouquet, with layers of rich, complex fragrances of well rounded fruit, and a very pleasant black cherry finish. Velvety smooth in the mouth, with finely grained tannins; it evolves with long and persistent floral and orchard fruit notes. Refreshingly vivacious on the palate. Good ageing potential given the sustained acidity and the powerful tannins.
Fattoria Castellina's biodynamic philosophy: Modern biodynamics represents today the most advanced model of applied sustainable agriculture, as well as the most effective means of achieving truly uncompromising wine quality while maintaining the fullest respect for both man and nature. For viticulture, it is the soundest method for restoring to wine its typicity and its sensory relation to its terroir. The resulting wines are immediately recognised as alive and natural, ones which chemical analysis shows to possess higher values than those produced by conventional means. It goes without saying that, from the point of view of communications, these are “Wines with a premise.”
