Gosset Champagne Brut Grand Millesime 2000

750ML
Sku: 065418

Grape Varieties
56% Chardonnay, 44% Pinot Noir

Vinification
Ages five to eight years in bottles prior to release. This champagne is ready to be enjoyed now and will continue to develop a richness, intensity and maturity like a fine white wine, over the next 10 years.

Color
A clear, brilliant gold with green and amber hues. A persistent stream of supremely fine bubbles.

Bouquet
Delicate and complex. Accents of jasmine, white lilac and Tahitian vanilla mingle with scents of apricot, peach, pear and toasted nuts in a powerful bouquet. Shows the elegance of young champagne that is already showing its pedigree through luxurious, deeply sensual spicy notes.

Taste
This graceful and full-bodied champagne is extraordinarily lively and crisp. Fresh on the palate, laced with spicy baking flavors like fruit cake, cinnamon and anise followed by hints of violet. Enjoyable, long and pleasantly persistent on the finish.

Serving Suggestions
This aromatic and rich champagne is the epitome of complexity. There are innumerous possibilities for pairings, but its aristocratic allure is particularly well-matched with both modern and traditional French and Asian cuisine. Try with scallops roasted with lemon or snails in choux pastry. When deciding on a match, opt for creative, well-balanced dishes that complement and heighten the flavor of the wine.

Rating
1999 Vintage 93 Points - Antonio Galloni, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Brut Grand Millesime is an intense, full-bodied wine loaded with ripe peaches, apricots, smoke and minerals. The wine shows notable integrity in its fruit, with delicate, perfumed notes that carry through to the long finish. This is a great wine to enjoy over a long, relaxed dinner. The 1999 Brut Grand Millesime is 56% Chardonnay and 44% Pinot Noir. This bottle was most likely disgorged in late 2006."

92 Points - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast: "If this seems soft at first, that's the year. Soon enough, the hallmark Gosset acidity and minerality show through, with the addition of spicy pear and some toast. They give a tightness to the wine, a coiled spring effect, that shows through all that rich fruit right to the aftertaste."

92 Points Wine & Spirits:: "The fruit of this wine is youthful, almost primary in its exotic ripeness, while the acidity holds it tight and clean. Complex biscuit scents over a pleasantly bitter, mineral impression balance the fruit. Serve it with a simple roast striped bass, or with something more intensely flavored, like the monkfish wrapped in pancetta at NY's Hearth.".
