Xavier Flouret Rouge Noir Menetou-Salon 2013

Xavier Flouret Rouge Noir Menetou-Salon 2013

Sku: 065884

Incredible dark red/purple color. The aromas of sweet French oak and espresso get more complex with every swirl of the glass, unveiling black plum, ripe raspberry, and violet aromas. The wine is full-bodied, dense, deep and chewy with flavors of black raspberry, plums, roasted herb, and caramel notes. This beauty could be enjoyed now with a nice ribeye steak or leg of lamb since it shows incredible balance for such a concentrated wine.

A great expression of Malbec, with powerful aromas of violets, cherries and plums. Over a year in French oak has given polish to the tannins and added a toasty complexity to the raisiny fruit backbone.

2009: 91 Points - Jay Miller, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " The 2009 Malbec was made from 84-year-old vines and aged for 12 months in 33% new French oak. Wood smoke, a hint of cocoa, Asian spices, incense, and black cherry compose the bouquet of this impeccably balanced, incipiently complex, layered wine."

2009: 91 Points - Steve Tanzer, International Wine Cellars: "Good bright red-ruby. Aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, licorice and minerals. Chewy, concentrated and classically dry, with a saline quality and subtle oak tones to the flavors of crushed blackberry, menthol and bitter chocolate. A traditionally styled wine with lovely definition and depth and a firm tannic spine for aging. With its back-end minerally lift, this saturates the entire mouth without leaving any impression of weight. Should expand with a few years of additional bottle aging."
