Bodegas Shaya Old Viones Verdejo 2012

Bodegas Shaya Old Viones Verdejo 2012

750ML
Sku: 067221

This new project is a joint venture between Jorge Ordonez, Enrique Busto and the Gil family of Jumilla. One of the most impressive wines I have ever tasted from the region of Rueda, the fruit is sourced from very old low yielding vines whose average age is between 75 and 112 years old. Great nuances of fig, citrus and melon. This is like high class Sancerre for a fraction of the price.

Tasting notes
The wine that emerges is packed with aroma and lusciously full and creamy in the mouth, peach and mango with hints of vanilla and nutmeg from the oak, yet itís still crisp and refreshing .

Rating
2011: 90 Points - Josh Raynolds, Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellars: "Pale gold. Musky pear and pit fruit aromas are complicated by suggestions of honey, minerals and anise. Shows a suave blend of richness and vivacity, with a note of bitter lemon pith accenting deeply pitched orchard fruit flavors. Shapely and supple in texture, finishing with noteworthy length. "

Review:
Very interesting coming from Spain, it has very similar favor profile of Sauvignon Blanc, but not just any given Sauvignon Blanc, this is very close to a Sancerre, with great citrus flavors and mineral profile.
