Primitivo is the Italian variation of Zinfandel, which apparently landed in southern Italy on its way to California. The original variety hails from Croatia. The Le Sciare Primitivo is a great value from Puglia that contains aromas of cassis, blackberries, and jammy fruit. Smooth tannins are combined with concentrated fruit, finishing with light notes of creamy French oak, and a hint of sweetness.
|Here is a smoky, dense Primitivo with thick aromas of black cherry, red apples and chocolate fudge. The wine has a soft, modern edge with flavors of spice, vanilla and mature blackberry fruit. Pair it with lamb, roasted pork or stew.
