Montes Cabernet Sauvignon Alpha 2011

Montes Cabernet Sauvignon Alpha 2011

750ML
Sku: 130218

Tasting notes
It is a sophisticated elegant wine. Beautiful ruby red color, Intense cassis, strawberry flavors, with combined hints of black cherries and chocolate. Oak is not predominant but well combined and still present in the background in order to keep the fruit as a principal character of this wine. Solid and ripe tannins but with 2 years of aging already soft and friendly. An outstanding wine for bottle aging (5-10 years).

Rating
2006: 90 Points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon has 10% Merlot in its blend. It received the identical barrel/tank regimen. Purple-colored, it exhibits aromas of cedar, spice box, tobacco, black currant, and blackberry. Layered yet elegant, it has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years. Balanced and lengthy, it should drink well from 2009 to 2016."

2006: 90 Points - Josh Raynolds, Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellars: "Ruby-red. Lively aromas of red- and blackcurrant are complicated by fresh rose and smoky Indian spices. Fresh red berry flavors stain the palate without any undue weight, picking up subtle tobacco and floral character on the back end. Impressively graceful cabernet with very good finishing clarity and sweetness."

2006: 88 Points - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator: "Juicy, with a solid core of blackberry and black cherry fruit layered with sweet toast. Stays fresh and ripe through the finish."

Review:
Great complexity with bountiful cherry, plum, and citrus balanced with oak and spice. Great value for a wine of this caliber. First Chilean gem I've come across.
