Joel Gott Zinfandel 2014

Joel Gott Zinfandel 2014

Sku: 130611

Zinfandel - The flavors are deep and dark like blackberry jam, loaded with baking spices.

Ultimate Beverage Challenge 91 points (Jun 2016)
Spiced cranberry, black currant, worn leather, cooking herbs, smoke, and earth aromas rise from the glass. Black raspberry compote and brown spice take the stage on the palate followed by a smoky suggestion that lasts with black fruits on the finish.

Wine maker notes
The 2012 California Zinfandel has aromas of roasted plum and blackberry jam with hints of sweet spices. On the palate, the wine’s bright red fruit flavors and acidity are complemented by a soft, round mouth feel and a long finish.

Technical notes
Moderate temperatures for most of the growing season, with low rainfall, made for exceptional fruit characterized by spice and bright fruit flavors. The fruit in many vineyards was perfectly ripe at harvest because of the mild weather, reaching flavor maturation at lower sugar levels, making for a slightly lower alcohol wine. Decades-old, head trained vines in Lodi and Amador create intense, deeply concentrated and small clusters of fruit. Fruit from Sonoma and Mendocino maintained the spice and red fruit characteristics that they’re known for. Sourcing from these varied regions across California helped to create an elegant and balanced Zinfandel.
