Chateau Lamothe de Haut Blanc 2015

Chateau Lamothe de Haut Blanc 2015

750ML
Sku: 131236

Made with traditional Bordeaux grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc (40%), Sémillon (40%), and Muscadelle (20%). This particular blend, which goes back centuries, has become rather rare in recent years. Winemaking is traditional: skin contact (50%) and cold fermentation (16/18°C). The wine is aged on the lees for about 3 weeks, which accounts for its round, smooth, and remarkably fruity flavour.

Tasting notes
Color: gold with green highlights Bouquet: floral aromas and fruity aromas (hawthorn, grape fruit). Palate: round and fresh, slightly pearly wine. Crispy and long final

Review
Howard G. Goldberg, New York Times May 4, 2008: Year after year, Lamothe de Haux, a minor château, produces enticing Bordeaux blanc blends. The succulent 2007 shows why they have become a cult white in New York. Mainly sauvignon blanc, the ’07 is perfectly balanced by sémillon and muscadelle. Drink it lightly chilled, with a Cobb salad and, as the Bordelais do, with langoustines and smoked salmon.

Technical notes
Made with premium Bordeaux varieties : Sauvignon Blanc (40%), Sémillon (40%), and Muscadelle (20%). This blend, based on ancient tradition, is rare in Bordeaux these days. Traditional winemaking : skin contact (50%), cool fermentation (16/18° C) in vat, and barrel-ageing on the lees for about 3 weeks, which makes the wine round, smooth, and fruity.

Food pairing
This wine is ideal as an aperitif and with fish, seafood (oysters, mussels), or goat's cheese. Best enjoyed young (within 2 years of the vintage).
