Tasting notes

Highly representative of classic Rioja Alta wines. Ruby-red with a brick rim; bright. Elegant nose; harmonious aromas with hints of ageing and varietal notes. Fine and well-structured in the mouth, with good acidity and polished tannins; very well balanced. Complex finish, with a delicate, persistent fragrance. Good development in the bottle.

2005: 85 Points - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Vina Albina Reserva is a blend of 80% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo and 5% Graciano from Rioja Alta that is aged in American oak for 24 to 30 months. It has a rustic, slightly bretty bouquet with savory dark fruit, spice and cured meats. The palate offers chunky, sweet red fruit packed full of flavor, if not complexity. It is a bit “obvious” but speaks of its place. Drink now. "

Wine maker notes

Classical vinification with destalked, crushed grapes, a long maceration period and controlled fermentation. Aged for 24 to 30 months in American oak barrels, with appropriate rackings. Aged in the bottle for at least 12 months before being put on the market.
