Chteau de la Chaize is among the oldest, most historic estates in Burgundys Beaujolais region. Boasting over 250 acres of vineyards, it is also one of the largest. The property is currently owned and managed by the Marquise de Roussy de Sales family, who transformed Chteau de la Chaize into one of the most innovative andforward-thinking producers in the region. Among its many initiatives is the adoption of eco-friendly winemaking practices. Chteau de la Chaize is located in the Brouilly appellation, the largest of the Beaujolais Crus and where the predominant grape planted is Gamay.
|Château de La Chaize is proud to offer an exceptional Brouilly combining tradition, modern methods and a very respectful environmental policy. Since the 17th century this very large estate has been carrying out the assemblages (blending) of the wines from all parts of its 99-hectare vineyard. Red fruit like strawberries and cherries are at the forefront, followed by blueberry and finally some raspberry and tasty but subtle black pepper. There are enough tannins to give this wine some structure, but it is supple enough to maintain the fresh, drinkable spirit of a Beaujolais.
