The estateís 2008 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli shows a little more depth in its fruit than the straight bottling. Hints of tobacco, savory herbs and smoke add complexity in a Brunello that shows the virile, powerful side of the vintage. A solid, well-balanced wine, the 2008 should drink well for a number of years. At the same time, I canít help thinking Altesino would have been better off making just one wine in this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020.
