Elderton has a proud history of producing great dessert wines and we are extremely excited to now continue this journey with the first vintage produced with fruit from one of our own Barossa vineyards. In previous vintages we sourced the Botrytis Semillon from the Riverina wine region in New South Wales. This wine was also formally known as Golden Semillon in the Elderton portfolio, but the name now reflects exactly what is in the bottle. This wine continues to be very popular, especially with visitors to cellar door. The 2002 vintage was the Australian representative and just missed out on the title for the world’s best dessert wine at the London International Wine and Spirits Competition.

Produced from 50% botrytis and 50% cane cut fruit, the 2011 Botrytis Semillon offers a medium straw color and intense notes of lemon marmalade, honey, candied peel, dried apricots and a hint of musk. Very rich, sweet and crisp in the mouth, it fills the mouth with expressive fruit and finishes long with some spices coming through. Drink it now to 2017+.
