Tenuta di Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva 2011

Tenuta di Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva 2011

Sku: P3010

Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva shows the distinctive Sangiovese fragrance of dark berries offset by pronounced woodsy notes of leather and earth. These are confirmed on the palate in a full, mellow texture and firm structure underscored by a clean acidic balance. The ripe fruit flavors carry into the aftertaste, with elegant nuances of smoke and mushrooms, ending in a long, full finish promising excellent longevity.

Tasting notes
This wine shows crisp, ripe red berry and cherry fruit flavors and aromas sustained by a fresh, acidic note offset by classic Sangiovese notes of earth, mushrooms and leather, with an elegant tannic backbone.

'Nozze' means 'wedding' in Italian. Nozzole wines are always amongst the best Chianti Classico. This wine shows typical crisp, ripe red berry and cherry aromas of Sangiovese with notes of earth, mushrooms and leather, with a backbone of firm, yet elegant, tannins. Pairs well with meat and pasta sauces, poultry and hard cheeses.

This Chianti Classico comes from the vineyard surrounding the Villa Nozzole based in the hills between Florence and Greve. Grapes are harvested within the first 10 days of October to create this Nozzole Cellar wine.

From Giovanni and Ambrogio Folonari, the 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva opens to ripe tones of black currant and prune. It doesnt have the great complexity of the vintage but it does offer an honest experience. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020.

Vinous / Antonio Galloni, 90 Points -
Freshly cut flowers, mint, dark red cherries and anise are some of the notes that waft from the glass in the 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva. This is one of the more weightless, gracious wines of the vintage. The style is quite soft and supple, but all the fruit is nicely supported by clean veins of mouth-watering acidity.

Wine Spectator, 89 Points:
Elegant and intense, delivering cherry, leather, bitter almond and tea flavors on a dense profile. Finishes a bit dry, but shows complexity. Drink now through 2016.
