Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2010 Yalumba The Signature (Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz) has a slightly muted nose giving notes of macerated plums, blackberry preserves and menthol with suggestions of cloves, anise and nutmeg. There’s some complementary oak apparent on the full-bodied, generously-fruited palate that has a solid structure of medium to firm grainy tannins and crisp acid. It finishes with a good length. Approachable now, it should drink best 2014 to 2024+.

A wine of depth and distinction, polished and appealing for the expansive and juicy berry and pomegranate flavors at the core, finishing with gentle persistence and a light burr of tannins. Drink now through 2020.—H.S.
