Vinas del Cenit Aleo Vdc 2009

Vinas del Cenit Aleo Vdc 2009

Wine Advocate 90 points (Jun 2011)
The 2009 Aleo is a different selection of vineyards with the wine spending 10 months in French oak. It displays a similar aromatic profile but is rounder, richer, and a bit more structured on the palate. It will evolve for 2-3 years and drink well through 2019. It is also a superb value.

Wine maker notes
Via Cenit combines shades of fine oak, creamy and sweet spices, together with wild berries and fresh red fruit aromas. It is fresh, lively, meaty and promises a brilliant evolution in the bottle

Technical notes
The fragmented vineyards that make up the ZAMORA landscape are located on the left bank of the Duero RIver and abound with history. Grown on poor, rock-strewn sandy soils, the ungrafted vines have throughout the centuries, thrived and survived untold hazards. Small hand-harvested clusters of fully matured grapes were carefully chosen from 100 year old vines.

Via Cenit VDC Tempranillo from Vinas del Cenit is a wine with abundant character and history. Zamora is legendary for growing Tempranillo or as it's locally known TINTA DE MADRID. For me, there is no other wine that delivers such great punch for the price. Fruit from 100 year old vines goes into this wine then aged for 12 months in a crianza style. I advise you to serve this wine with a thick cut off meat, pork chops, lamb chops or a nice NEW YORK STRIP steak. Oscar Garcia Wine Buyer
